The IAMAT-Robert Haru Fisher Travel Medicine Scholarship honors Robert Haru Fisher, a dedicated IAMAT board member, and his partner Harukuni. A doctor or nurse from an African country will receive the scholarship. The recipient undergoes clinical observation as well as a travel medicine course offered by the South African Society of Travel Medicine (SASTM). Following the course, the scholar returns home to teach their colleagues, thereby improving healthcare for both visitors and local patients.
The application deadline is October 24, 2022, at 11:59 p.m. CAT.
African countries other than South Africa are eligible.

Scholarship Value: IAMAT covers tuition, educational materials, local transportation, and lodging. The recipient is responsible for transportation to South Africa as well as any other miscellaneous expenses. IAMAT will reimburse the scholar for the airfare if the course is successfully completed (economy class).

- Outside of South Africa, living and working in a country where travel medicine is a developing specialty.
- Travel medicine knowledge.
- Capacity to promote travel medicine in the workplace and throughout the region/country.
- Proven excellence in English writing and speaking.
